Amazon is nothing more than a clearing house. Seller meets buyer and
Amazon rakes in the dough from both. Sellers giving reviewers free samples of their product in exchange for review is a great way to market your business. Especially if you have a good product and know it. The Influencers can post on social networks and give consumers the low down on a product or company. You get to try new products that you would not necessarily be able to afford or products that are so new that need testing and evaluation. The sellers value this feedback that they receive from their reviewers so you would think this is a marriage made in heaven. No so. Amazon, instead of doing what they do best wants a piece of the pie. Then you have to deal with other reviewers who are jealous and will downvote you or make up stories and report you to Amazon for unknown crimes. You also have to deal with sellers of the same product, downvoting your product in an effort to get ahead of each other in the listings.
You have to worry that Amazon will pull your reviewer profile, especially if you are caught up in this web. You are vulnerable and defenseless. Then you have the sellers pressuring you for 5 star reviews without having time to thoroughly test. Not to mention all the drama that goes on in FB review groups.
Now, once you become a top reviewer, the offers flow like water until you have no more space to store it. Sure I share the wealth with friends and family but what about those things that no one wants or the duds, and believe me there are lots of them. You don't want to say no because then you will get passed over for the good stuff. Charities don't even want some of this stuff. specifically supplements, skin products and household junk that typically sells in dollar stores.
And then, one day, Amazon accuses you of manipulating reviews. Moi? No explanation, no nothing. So, yes, I quit. I had enough!
I will feature the cream of the crop here on my blog. So if you see it here, then you know it was truly a loved product and Amazon can't say a thing about it!
